I am new enough to sewing that I want (need?) to follow a pattern. In fact, whenever I’ve tried to self-draft something I just got myself into a mess! Not happy making! So, below is an evergreen list of independent online clothing designers I have found that offer sewing patterns for men. I will continue to update as I find more.
Variety in men’s patterns is hard to find. Every designer with a men’s lineup seems to stay with a relatively narrow range with only small variations in styling. Choosing among them can be difficult. The deciding factor between them may be just be size range, designer reputation, support, payment options or country. Even the presentation style on a website affects my decision. To make reading easier, I listed the most common styles and then the options /links offered by the various designers.
Along with the often incredibly detailed instructions, many (most?) designers also offer other valuable resources. These include clear instruction, printing options, hacks, tips tutorials, and sew-along videos. Before buying a pattern, I often check out the social media links. There you will find all kinds of versions, options, fabric choices, support and even hacks from other sewists. It’s a goldmine!
Disclaimer
Many of the sewing patterns for men listed below are really great. I’ve purchased and sewn several of them already and plan to make and buy more. However, I have NOT vetted all these sources. Accordingly, I cannot and do not endorse all the designers listed here. Many are completely unknown to me and listed here so I might look into them in the future. Please use at your own risk.
I should mention too that I never hesitate to pay for a good sewing pattern from a reputable designer. I love supporting independent designers and encourage you to as well! They are worth the money.
Finally, if you have any information (good or bad) about any of these designers or think I should include or remove, please contact me or comment below.
You can sort the list by designer or by style to compare designers of the same style or to find patterns offered by your favorite designer.
