Summer is coming! (I trust). I am a coffee addict all the way, but I like to have something alcoholic wine to offer friends and family over the various summer gatherings.
A few years ago I made a raspberry peach Sangria wine at a local wine-making store for a large summer party. It was so popular and refreshing on that hot summer afternoon, that I have made a batch every year since then. This is a seriously pleasant drink, although with an alcohol content of 7%, it is easy to feel a bit tipsy. *hick*
This wine store is just one of the places to go. The building itself is an old-time farmhouse in the middle of the city with a large parking lot. It has creaking wood floors and a woodsy/wine smell. There is a ramp entrance and automatic front door (which is surprises me each time I visit).
This place really stands out for its staff. I’m not a terribly outgoing, not unfriendly, just shy. Still, I find myself joking along naturally with them every visit. Last time, the cashier actually gave me a little additional discount just because he said I was so good natured. Seriously. lol
I don’t know how they hire, but even with a change in staff most years, all the guys there seem genuinely pleasant and cheerful. Must be the fumes!
So a quick drop in, choose, pay, sprinkle some powder over some water and go back in a month to bottle. Bob’s your uncle.
UPDATE: Went back in May to bottle and ended up getting another batch!
